Storytelling with Donagh McKeown, Los Gatos Youth Recreation Center, 2.30pm-3.30pm –
The act and art of storytelling has been around since man came out of the cave to share stories around the common fire, and we’ve been sharing stories around the fire and across the millennia ever since. Ireland has a rich tradition in such matters. The Seanchaí, or storyteller, has long held deep respect and is at the heart of Irish culture, from Celtic times to the present day.
Donagh McKeown doesn’t go back quite so far, though he grew up in Co. Armagh, Ireland, where storytelling came as second nature, recalling and recounting the stories of Cú Chullain and the Ulster Cycle or the of Tír Na Nóg and other Irish legends and fables.
Have you got what it takes to be a storyteller? Come join Donagh on Saturday at our children’s workshop and win a prize in our storytelling competition. Dress in a costume and let the imagination run wild!
